“This third edition of the Optimistic Architecture Yearbook celebrates the output of the French architectural community in 2009. The collective French architectural community in 2009. The collective French Touch´s yearbook stands out from the rather staid and disappointing collection of magazines and books on French architecture in its radical and optimistic viewpoint. In just two years it has become the international shop window for contemporary French architecture. The momentum created by the first yearbook in 2007 grew at the Venice architecture biennale in 2008 with the “GeneroCity” exhibition at the French pavilion, curated in conjunction with Francis Rambert. One of the main aims of the exhibition, which was strong in both analysis and staging, was to show that issues affecting widely different recent projects are interconnected. A new international visibility was given to French architecture by the different presentations of the exhibition in 2009, from the Cité de l´Architecture et du Patrimoine museum in Paris to the Sao Paulo architecture biennale in Brazil.
